Chitra Vichitra Fair is considered as the largest tribal and one of the most striking fair of Gujarat, In village of Gunbhakhari and in district Sabarkanta. Name Chitra Vichitra on the sons of Shantanu King, Vichitravirya and Chitravirya. This important festival of Gujaratis celebrated after Holi festival and is attended by large number of tourists and locals from all over globe. Tourists visiting this fair can even explore its magnificent temple that can be worshipped and resides near three rivers that are Akul, Sabarmati and Vyakul.

According to Indian mythology after death of any one, his / her dead body should be burned and ash will be dissolute in river so they dissolute their relatives ash in Sabarmati river and then they take a holy bath in Sabarmati River. Then after they donate some food or sweets to poor people. And now fair of Chitra Vichitra starts.

A film was produced by the training and research centre of Gujarat Forest Department. This documentary film represents a collective picture of wild animals and rare birds residing in Saurashtra region. The region itself is interesting as it has a diversity of having Sasan forest to harsh barren land extending to Kutch. The region is dry and rains starve but it is also known for grasslands and high quality fodder crop.

The main player of the film is obviously “Panthera leo persica” , for common people it is Asiatic Lion. The only habitat of Asiatic Lion in the world. The second player is also very selective in its habitat, “Equus hemionus khur” or the Wild Ass found only in this region. Among many co-habitats Great Indian Bustard, Lesser Floricans, Flamingos are treat to watch.

Garbage dumps are very common feature that can be found on every corner, every road, in every city, in India or across the world. Industrial and household waste in India is also growing at a never before pace, Leading to a very serious issue called Waste Generation…. Most amount of Greenhouse gas emissions come from goods and materials that are produced, consumed and thrown away…

This is a story of women whom we have seen, some time when we are forced to venture out at ungodly hours of very early morning like 3 or 4 or 5 am. We see them picking through stinking garbage dumps, walking across our streets, carefully watching all over, with a big bag slung on the shoulder, they are there every morning, without fail, fighting with cows and other animals to share the spoil, injuring their hands by sharp object in the pile, constantly bitten by the street dogs and always looked down by the society. Bending their back and spine thousands of time every day. Days after days. We have never understood the reason behind their work but they are the ones who contribute significantly in saving the environment by them being the Silent friend of Earth and our planet… The Silent Souls..

Long before we understood the importance of recycling, these rag pickers were there…serving the society…as the well wishers of Mother Earth… So this is a story of the Silent Souls, the saviors of Mother Earth.

A documentary film produced by Gujarat Forest Department is based on historical, cultural, flora and fauna or the Kutch area of Gujarat. This is considered as a world heritage area because of its diversity in preserved remnant of by gone era. Kutch area has a unique geological feature with sedimentary rock formations inter spaced with basalt of deccan lava irruption. Kutch area was an island of sedimentary origin known as “USHER BHOOMI” a turtle shape island. The famous and mystical Sindhu River was flowing through this area. Alexander the great while returning from Afghanistan passed through this region for the Babylonia. Before departure he built almost 800 ships near the place called “MARUD TIKER”. Today we can only see the fossil channel or the river and Alexander’s rout in satellite images.

Being a sedimentary region in nature the Kutch is full of fossils belonging to various age and era, a nature’s lab for paleontologists. Besides coal mine Kutch also has a unique cluster of cher trees/ mengrow tree growing 90 Km’s inland from sea shore at “SHRAVAN KAVADIYA” a geological miracle. Kutch is also known for Indus civilization and the archeological site of “DHOLAVEERA”. The unique white desert is also a part of Kutch’s uniqueness along with different tribes residing in the area known for their handicraft and distinctive embroidery work.

A documentary made on rehabilitation program for war widows in Afghanistan by Prime Minister of India’s office with Self Employed Women’s Association; SEWA acting as nodal implementing organization.

More than 25 years of war and civilian conflicts has destroyed the social fabric of Afghanistan and the worst sufferers were the women who regularly kept on becoming widows. They were the worst sufferers of wars fallout. This film talks about how SEWA extended a hand of friendship to the women in need in Afghanistan. SEWA initiated a series of training programs like skill development and by that generating an increase in financial gains. Through their own modules they trained a few master trainers who went back and imparted training to mode Afghan women.

The film talks about the increase of confidence level in women remarkable. Today they are at par to do any work to earn more so that they can have a better life.

About This Project

The film is about providing a proper guidance and enough resources so that one can change anyone’s life. Even though women are literate or semiliterate if opportunities are given, they will rise to the need of the time and will meet the challenge to create their own income source. This documentary film talks about the second and third generation of the SEWA members. SEWA provides them a training of various trades and services along with management training. This helps them to design their own business, ability to manage finance and trading as well. It is a story of many young women who became the owner and the manager of their own business by becoming entrepreneur.
